Are there any movie theaters in Chicago that play old movies?

Posted on February 25th, 2010 by admin

In movies and things, I always see people going to theaters that are playing classic movies, and I mean anything that came out in the 80s or earlier! I’ve tried looking it up and haven’t found much of anything. I live in Chicago, and being such a huge city, I figure there has got to be one theater that does this, even if it’s just on Saturday nights or something! Does anyone know of any?

The Siskel Film Center at the Art Institute of Chicago does old films, independent film, etc. It’s on State Street just down from the big Marshall Fields (Or I guess it’s Macy’s now.) You can buy tickets for individual movies or become a member and get reduced price tickets and invites to special screenings and events.

I haven’t lived there in years, but the "Biograph Theater" on Clark Street used to show "retros" back in the day. It’s also a historical building where the FBI shot and killed someone that they claimed was John Dillinger, though to this day, many people doubt it!
