The theater, and For kid prices. And How much does popcorn and pop cost?

I dont know much about plays and am planning to go to one what are some plays being played near Modesto,CA { im willing to drive a bit to} that are worth watching in the next month or so?

To Kill a Mockingbird will be playing in Modesto in May. I’ve never been to that theater, but it’s a great show and I suspect they’ll put on a good production.

I recently received yellow piece of paper for a discount of $8 from someone who goes to NYC Tech, and I was wondering whether these coupons actually work. Basically, it’s on a yellow printing paper that says it’s good for one admission, a maximum of four tickets, and works in AMC and Regal theatres, as well as the Loews, United Artist, and Magic Johnson theatre.

This sounds like a promotional ticket. General these can be a little tricky at times because they can be created fraudulently. The theaters in your area are aware of the promotions going on and should be able to help over the phone if you just read them the fine print. On rare occasions the coupon would need to be seen in person to ensure you will be able to see your movie!

I recently saw a play, "Churchill in shorts" it’s a collection of plays and it consists of three one acts. what was interesting was that after each act, the actors rearranged the stage themselves for the next act. Isn’t that something the stage workers should do? i was wondering if anyone knew why the actors would arrange the stage themselves, the play is supposed to be short though but even though, why would the actors do that.

Various reasons: there may be no stage crew – financially it may not be feasible to hire people to move scenery around. It could be an artistic choice – sometimes directors have actors change the set "in character" to connect scenes or short pieces into a complete piece.

Nine times out of ten it’s the lack of stage crew. When you’re doing a show for very little money, you sometimes have to ask stage crew to work for free and very few people will do that, so you’re left with just the actors to pitch in. This was partially the case with my show when it went up in January. Additionally, using my five actors meant the scene changes could happen in thirty to forty-five seconds instead of the two minutes that it would have taken for only two stage hands to change over.

This all changes when you’re dealing with Equity (Union) theatre where actors are not ALLOWED to change scenery nor in many cases carry props off stage unless its written in the script/direction.

Are these businesses hurting financially in any way? I don’t think so. So why must I pay anywhere from 9 to 13 dollars to see a movie? And anywhere from 14 to 30 dollars for snacks? Give me a logical or strong answer please.

There are a couple of answers. Regarding tickets prices, those are generally decided by the film studios. If a movie theatre or a theatre chain prices their tickets too low then the studios may decide to give that theatre less prints of a big film, or even hold off on giving them a movie at all.

Movie theatres also generally don’t see a lot of profit from ticket sales in the first couple of weeks, when movies are generally their most popular. Most of that income goes straight to the studios. Theatres really only make their money through the concession stand. Theatres are also generally very expensive to maintain. Utility bills are outrageous, repairs need to be done pretty frequently, and payroll costs more than you might think. All of these things combined contribute to the higher prices at the concession stand.

I have wanted to get into some of the plays in my cities local theater, but how? Do i just go in there and say "Hey! Can i audition!"??? Or is there a certain place i have to go, or a certain person i have to meet? Please let me know! Thanks!

If it’s a community theater, just check their website and they should have audition information.

I don’t want to necessarily become famous from acting but I really would like to start at a local community theater or something. I used to be amazing at acting when I was younger I was in every play at school and tried out a lot at a community theater. But I don’t have a lot of experience. Where should I start.

Simply got to look up Community Theatre’s in your area, keep an eye on what they have planned for the year, when they are holding their auditions and then apply yourself.

At this stage of the Internet there’s not really something someone from the other side of the world can do to help you apply for opportunities in your local community.

Well, I’m a a pretty big movie poster collector. But they are SO damn expensive! Like 12 dollars! So I was just wondering what movie theaters do with posters when the movie is lo longer in theaters?

Do you think I could just ask if I could have it

Becomes trash. Usually they’ll cut it up so people won’t sell them on ebay to make a profit. You could try befriending the manager or ask to purchase a poster.
