    Oh wow… I had this on VHS as a kid and always enjoyed this version the most. The black background with the wacked out sets just made this all the more haunting. Also, any clip you get to see of the white knight is hilarious. Sheer buffoonery. :)

    This was filmed in June of 1982 in Mpls at the Children’s Theatre Company. The show had just closed, ending a successful season. Annie Enneking (Alice) was around 12. She’d make a big splash the next season as “Pippi Longstocking” but her finest work would come as Mary in “The Secret Garden”. Gary Briggle was the Duchess. He’d played Scarecrow in “Land of Oz” the previous year (also on Youtube). The screaming baby was voiced by Leslye Orr, CTC vocal coach. Teenage Liz Fink was the cook.

    Updates on cast members: Annie (who plays Alice) has a kid. Elizabeth (who played the cook with the giant knife who’s always doing weird dances in the backround) is happily married. Gary (who played the duchess) still works in theatre.

    I remember watching this when I was a kid. It was scary then and it’s scary now. After seeing this I’ve always thought all Alce in Wonderlands were creepy.
