I figure any work on a resume is good, but theater acting and film acting are completely different. If I have more theater credits, does that still look good to the film agents and casting directors? Or would they feel like I won’t know how to do on camera acting?

Try naming a major actor who didn’t train in a theater program, who didn’t first come to acting through the stage — if you’ve come up with one or two, they were probably child actors or models. What matters here is that it seems from what you’ve said that you have already successfully segued into film, and have credits to show. But even if you hadn’t, you’d be starting from the same place nearly everyone does.

If you feel you could use more credits, go to the major film school in your city (either USC or NYU) and audition for student productions.

Basically I am planning to buy a home theater system with a DVD player but want to know if i can use that even without the DVD player. If i am just watching TV, is my home theater system is used or sitting idle?

Depends on your home theater systems and if it allows additional hook -ups to it. If it does then there should be no problem hooking up your TV for surround sound.
But remember it will not sound as good as your DVDs because DVDs are digital or 5.1, normal TV signals are analog or 2.0 .
If your home theater had Dolby Pro Logic ll, it will convert the 2.0 signal to 5.1.

I would like to buy a 5.1 home theater system and a LED TV. My desired place to watch it is in family room with a fireplace. I know I could hang the TV above fireplace but not sure about the home theater (Blue ray DVD player, receiver and speakers). I would also like the wires be concealed.

Thanks.

Use a private company, thasts what I did in my house for ALL my televisions / my home theater. Not sure where you live but the company i used was dhdpros.com | Private companies will never rip you off and generally use the greatest technology. (my house uses a program called "Control 4" i can turn off my kids’ bedroom lights / TVs from the basement.)

And also, the fire won’t affect it. If you want a picture of my hearth room ill send you one.

I love theater, especially musical theater. I’ve been in some shows, and I study singing and acting outside of school. But I know I’m just mediocre and definitely not good enough to make it on Broadway (plus, I have no dance training whatsoever). So is there something I could study in college (as a minor probably) that is kind of like musical theater theory? Not lights or anything. Just something to do with theater minus the performing part.
Also, would studying something like this be worthwhile in any way?
Thank you very much

Unless you wanted to study the technical side of theater and be involved that way, I don’t think it would really be worth your time – especially as you are astute enough to know that you don’t have what it takes. I had to make the same decision. You should be proud of yourself for realizing that you don’t have it – I know so many people who are adults and still laboring under the delusion that they do. I love musical theater, I live in New York and enjoy seeing Broadway shows – and I loved participating in musical theater as a child. In college I performed in many musicals on campus and had a blast but I did not major in theater – I looked into some of my other passions and focused on getting a degree that would help me get a job that I would enjoy. I’d say keep it as a hobby – I still do the occasional musical and it still brings me joy! Don’t settle for a major, find other things you are passionate about. You could also look into getting a degree that could help you with non profit management and try to work for a small theater in the administrative capacity. I know many people that do that as well!
