I’d really like to know what the oldest movie theater still standing today is. I’d be interested both in one that is still standing but abandoned or one that is still up and running.

there is one in london that is over 100 years old where they have all the movie premiere’s .

I wanted to go see a movie at a certain theater, but my daughter said not to go there because they serve beer at the concession stand. Do you think this should be allowed? Since smoking is not allowed, why should beer be allowed?

Smoking is governed by State Laws while Beer is governed by local laws.

They sell beer to Adults; not children. Just like Pizza Hut does.

I for one never understood how anyone could drink and keep up with a movie…lol

Does this theatre show Rated G & PG movies? Or does it show only adult-sized movies? Is there another theatre you could go to besides this one? I, personally, would not want to be in a theatre either that served alcohol. I believe movie theatres should be 100% family oriented. Unfortunately, lots of family members drink beer. I’m sure others would say it’s okay to ‘just drink’ as long as you don’t get drunk and disrupt the movie. However, I also believe that anyone who can’t even go 2 hours without a beer is wanting to get drunk; and being drunk, by nature, causes disruption is this type of social gathering.

If there are many other theatres in your town, then I would just let this situation go. But if this is the main movie theatre or one that does show G or PG movies alot, then i would certainly start a campaing (spelled wrong…lol) and get City Hall and the townspeople involved. Then i would sit down with the theatre’s management, owner and even their Distributor and go over my concerns with them. But most of all, if possible, people who want a family enviroment, should boycott this buisness until they meet the needs of the majority. And if the majority wants beer; then support their right to have it while maintaining your right to not be around it.
I went through a simular thing when I took over a Godfather’s Pizza many years ago. They had lost their beer license before I became Manager. When time came for the beer license renewal, I simply asked my customers what they thought. Most of them were coming to Godfather’s Pizza BECAUSE we didn’t sell beer anymore. These customers never went to Pizza Hut because they didn’t want their children around beer drinkers. So I made the decision to not sell beer and to instead use the space to let kids create their own little pizzas. Our buisness TRIPLED within 2 months of word-of-mouth getting around to all the churches and Godfather’s Pizza became their safe place to take the kids! I had to make my argument to my Supervisor and the owners but i stuck to my guns and tripled their buisness. They then tried this at another store in another town and that store’s buisness nearly doubled. Sorry, I got side-tracked. But let the theatre know of your concerns because they are valid…
