Ben Hur meets Jesus

Posted on July 7th, 2010 by admin

Ben-Hur is a 1959 epic film directed by William Wyler, and is the third version of Lew Wallace’s novel, Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ (1880). It premiered at Loews Theater in New York City on November 18, 1959. The film went on to win eleven Academy Awards, including Best Picture, a feat equaled only by Titanic (1997) and The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (2003).

The film is subtitled “A Tale of the Christ,” and it is at this point that Jesus’ presence is substantially increased. Esther (daughter of Judah Ben Hur´s slave) witnesses the Sermon on the Mount and is moved by Christ’s words.

She tells Ben-Hur about it, but he remains bitter and will not be consoled. Learning that Tirzah is dying, they take her and Ben-Hur’s mother to see Jesus, but they cannot get near him, as his trial has begun.

Recognizing Jesus from his encounter with him as he was being taken to the galleys, Judah attempts to give him water during his march to Calvary, echoing Jesus’ kindness to him, but is shoved away by the guards.

Judah witnesses the Crucifixion. Immediately after Christ’s death, Miriam and Tirzah are healed by a miracle (Christ’s blood from the Crucifixion washes into the cave where the women are hiding and touches them), as are Judah’s heart and soul.

He returns to his home and tells Esther that as he heard Jesus talk of forgiveness while on the cross, “I felt His voice take the sword out of my hand.” The film, which began with the Magi visiting the infant Jesus, ends with the empty crosses of Calvary in the background and a shepherd and his flock (a prominent Judeo-Christian symbol) in the foreground.

Why do people put down online colleges/universities? There are ppl who went to prestigious schools w/no job.?

Posted on July 2nd, 2010 by admin

Why do I see so many nasty comments about online colleges and universities?
And what kills me is that some of the comments I hear and see are from people who have never experienced going to school online?
If you are going to make a comment on something, then you need to have experienced it first hand.
Now I can understand the comments about online nursing programs but some online nursing programs do have clinicals in which the student meets at a hospital with an instructor to get that hands on training/experience.

Online school is for working adults.I’m sorry but some of us do not have time to be in the traditional classroom.
I’m working on my teaching degree. And next year I will start student teaching. The key word here is that I will be in a real school here in my city student teaching. And I have had clinicals too in which I have had experience watching children and teaching children.Yes I’m an online student but there are times in which I have to meet an instructor in person in an actual daycare/school.

Why are there so many put downs about online school? And most of the comments are from people who don’t know anything about online school because they are not enrolled in an online program.
Some people are going by hear say which is a big mistake.

All these comments saying I won’t be able to find a job because I’m at an online school.

Well guess what I personally know people who went to prestigious colleges/universities with a degree and they still don’t have a job.
There are people who graduated from Devry,Yale,Columbia,Princeton,Howard,Harvard,UIC,etc. and they still don’t have jobs.
So you can’t say that a person won’t have a job just because they are going to an online college.
There are people from well known colleges/universities with Bachelors,Masters,or PhDs with no job or they are working a low rate job.
For example one of my friends is working at a gas station and guess what she has a Masters from a well known university.
The economy is bad and everyone is feeling the sting.

So why so much put downs and discouragement saying a person won’t get a job if they go to an online school like University of Phoenix,Grand Canyon University,National Lewis University,Western Governors University, etc.
Most colleges/universities are offering online classes for the working adult.
And like I said there are people from Princeton,Harvard,UIC,Chicago State,Howard,Yale,Devry,Kellar School of Business,Concordia University,Dominican University,University of Chicago, etc. with Bachelors,Masters, and PhD with no jobs or they are working in a retail store,Loews movie theatre, gas station, etc. This economy is bad for everyone.

they felt like it.

“They”- A Music Video Remake

Posted on June 10th, 2010 by admin

The idea of the project was to take a music video that could have been done so much better, and re-create it in the way you would have designed it. The style I chose to redesign this song in was of a Gothic Masquerade Ball. The ballroom scene was filmed at the Loew’s Theater in Jersey City. For more information on the theater, please visit http://www.loewsjersey.org/ .

For the singers, I chose to have them represent the elements of nature. Each element plays a role in representing the storyline and its characters:

Water/Ice: Represents the icy feeling of the countess.
Air: The changing winds of the two leads meeting and the flirtation between them.
Earth: A strong and firm bond but mystery between them.
Fire: The passion growing between them/the rage felt by the bodyguard at the young woman’s disappearance.

The entire video was shot in a weekend in collaboration with Theory Film INC. There are two other versions of his project as well, though they will not be shown publicly for some time. Also, the video is still in its fine tuning stages, but will be flawless by the time that it reaches the panel of professors at my school.

I have to give a huge thanks to my actors and crew. Without them, none of what you have seen would have been possible. They are all amazing to suffer through freezing cold, dehydration, stupid hours in the morning, rehearsals of long and tedious endeavors, and caravaning 10+ cars through New Jersey. Also, a huge thanks to my family for all their love and support over the past five months of work. And lastly, thanks to the Jersey City fire department and medical center for taking such great care of one of my actors who was hurt in the process. Thank you to all of them.
