Why are all childrens books being made into a movie lately?

Posted on October 29th, 2010 by admin

Or books in general, I mean every movie that comes out I look it up and it says "based on the book" but now children’s books especially like Ramona & Beezus just went into theatres and now I just found out Judy Moody is going to be made into a movie….what’s next Junie B. Jones??

Because Hollywood is a copycat industry. If something makes money, Hollywood rides it until they run it into the ground.

What was the last movie you actaully saw in the theater?

Posted on October 26th, 2010 by admin

The last one I saw was Avatar. How many months ago was that? ;)

I think before that it was The Lion king-just kidding.

We don’t go to the movies often, once every 4-6 months. It’s not that I don’t want to go to the movies, I LOVE movie theater popcorn! It’s just that my husband is CHEAP and would rather wait until the movie is out on Redbox.

How often do you go to the movies?

The last movie was Alpha and Omega 3D for the kiddos. The movie before that was Toy Story 3. I go for the kids more than I go for myself. This weekend we are going to the drive-in to see The Social Network, Life As We Know It and a third which hasn’t been updated yet. I would say we go once a month, maybe once every two months depending on what’s in. Personally, I’d rather watch a movie in the comfort of my own home. My husbands the theatre person in the family. =)

When a movie is in limited theaters, will it still be available on dvd everywhere?

Posted on October 24th, 2010 by admin

There is a movie I want to see, Catfish. But it is only in limited theaters, and it won’t be playing in any theaters around me. Will it still come out on dvd & be available pretty much everywhere?

Eventually, it will be available, though you may have to order it, like from Amazon, or BestBuy. I do that all the time when classics are released on DVD/Blu-ray.

The beginnings of childrens’ theatre?

Posted on October 21st, 2010 by admin

I need to know where and when childrens’ theatre started. Or any information about very old childrens’ theatre. European, Asian, anything.

Websites would help.

Nashville Children’s Theatre is said to be the oldest professional children’s theatre in the United States:

http://www.nashvillechildrenstheatre.org/about_main.htm

Here are some links to children’s theatre history:

http://faculty-web.at.northwestern.edu/theater/tya/history.html

Also the link to this year’s 11th World Children’s Theatre Conference:

Hope that gets you started.

Are movie theaters usually packed in the morning for new releases?

Posted on October 18th, 2010 by admin

I’ve only gone to movie theaters at night and late-night for new releases and they are PACKED! I was wondering…if anyone has gone to a new release movie at 11am noon-ish, is it packed as it would be at night?

Yes.

Whenever there is a big release they will always be packed.

Does anyone know any techno songs the start with the THX sound they use in theaters before a movie starts?

Posted on October 16th, 2010 by admin

Im just guessing this song dates early 2000. Its a techno song. However the uniqueness about the song is it starts with the THX sound system the plays right before most movies start in the theaters. Thats all i can remember any help would be great. Thanks!

The THX sound is called "Deep Note".

Here’s the wiki that shows what music it’s been used in.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_Note

Since you’re looking for a techno song, my guess is it’s the Mega Lo Mania mix of Mylene Farmer’s song "California". I found one version of it on youtube.

How much does it cost for theaters to rent movies?

Posted on October 8th, 2010 by admin

I was reading about how movie theaters make so much off of the ticket sales, and I was wondering if this is due to some sort of rental fee covering cost. I heard that the movie theaters have to rent the movies it plays n the theaters, and it costs them thousands in rentals per movie theater. I thought the movie theaters profit was purely concession.

Theatre profit isn’t PURELY concessions, but its a huge chunk. We have to pay a percentage of ticket sales to the film companies. I’ve seen it as high as 80% (for the first week of Spiderman 2) That means that when you pay your $10, we only got $2. A full house of 200 tickets sold LOOKS LIKE $2000 dollars that we made, but we only got $200. Typically, its around 60-65% for the first week of a movie, then it goes down a bit each week after that.

Can you rent out a movie theater without seeing a movie?

Posted on October 5th, 2010 by admin

My fiance and I would like to have our wedding ceremony in a movie theater in Las Vegas, NV. It’s great for seating, plus our theme is along those lines. Is there anywhere we could rent out the space for 2-4 hours and not watch a movie? Maybe as a bonus put a picture of us on the screen?

Yes, absolutely, you can. Often movie theaters rent out theaters for meetings, conferences and private screenings. Contact a theater you like and see what they can do for you. And have a read of this article with helpful info:
