All of us in the household have built Yahoo home pages with various modules on them. Within the last few weeks we are noticing that several modules do not populate with info. The headings still appear (as with the tv listing, we get the time slot headings, but no channels listed below, have checked to be sure that the channels we chose are still on our list in the content area options page) We have lost the content of several news providers, tv listings, movie theater listings, etc. How do we make them come back????
Have the same problem and posted a question earlier, but no one has answered as to why. But, I know others are having the same problem.
I am thinking about getting a home theater system for my Samsung 40" LCD TV. If I am not watching a dvd movie, can home theater system be used just by watching TV?
Your home theater can certainly just be used for watching TV. I don’t have a huge home theater system to brag about but I do love the TV lift cabinet that I recently purchased. I like to be able to hide the DVD player and other cords and with the built in infrared system that the stand has, I am able to operate my TV and DVD player with ease while the doors on the cabinet remain shut. It’s so great. I also love the fact that I can hide my TV away when I want it out of view and with the TV lift, your TV raises in and out of the cabinet. Here’s the cabinet that I have, http://www.importadvantage.com/Moderna-Black-55 It’s really a nice piece and definitely was worth the money.
What kind of things should i look out for? Like i know the tin man is rather soft spoken and kind of feminine. but how should i make my character voice as the role? any advice in general?
Your question requires a book, so I wrote you one.
Look out for NOT using your own imagination to supply the usual back story for this character. What was the tin man created to DO? Why does he/she need a heart? He/she seems to be managing without one, what need will this fulfill? When it is fulfilled how will she/he be different? Does she/he KNOW how she/he will be different when she/he gets the heart? What will she/he do if she/he doesn’t get the heart? How would that affect her/him, i.e., what kinds of things would she/he lose out on? Or NOT be able to do?
How old is the tin woman (tin girl? Why not? If theater is all about creativity, the director should let you try out all sorts of different tin men/women/girls.
Look out for NOT writing out all the answers to the above (and any other questions you better have thought up for yourself), so you have a record you can look back on from time to time and remind yourself where you were heading.
A good acting exercise: Draw and color the face of the tin person however YOU think she/he looks. Make it life size and don’t worry about how good the artwork is or isn’t. Make a tin person hat and put it on. Cut out the eyes and look through them into a mirror. Look around. Close one eye. Wink. Lower your eyelashes. Cross your eyes. What looks most like what YOU think the tin person’s eyes would be like?
Cut out the nose. Look in the mirror. Crinkle your nose. Twitch it like Samantha the witch in Bewitched. Wipe it. Blow it. Scratch it. What looks most like what YOU think the tin person’s nose would be like?
Do these same kinds of things with the mouth, the chin, the ears, until you are wearing your drawing like a mask, a mask with a lot of holes where YOU are peeking out. Always looking in the mirror. Decide what looks to YOU authentically tin person-ish. Make tin person faces at yourself. Make believe the tin person is making believe she/he is happy, sad, angry, hungry, excited, uncertain. Do a double take. Then, NOT making believe, FEEL happy, sad, angry, hungry, excited, uncertain and other things you FEEL.
To FEEL happy, think about something that makes you, the tin person, feel happy, sad, angry, hungry and oh you know. Don’t fake it if you can help it, but if you can’t help it, come back to it later. Keep trying even if you NEVER make it. See below about "trust."
Finally, use makeup to make yourself look like the tin person you think you are. Put the hat back on, too. Look in the mirror. Talk to yourself. What kind of voice sounds to YOU authentically the tin person’s voice.
Look out for copying other people’s version of the tin person. A good actor knows how to "make the character her own." After you play with the externals of the character, after you have done all the above, plus reading the play all the through from pg 1 to the final curtain. Once you have done all that, you have to take risks and be a good self critic (with the help of a good director who lets his actors take risks with their character), and be willing to throw out the stuff you don’t think is working.
Then, and only then, you have to trust. Trust yourself, trust that all that work you’ve done is going to affect everything you do as the character and it will come out right. You don’t have to work at it any more. Trust so much, that you don’t second guess yourself anymore, but believe that it will all come out of you somehow, easily, naturally, and will be the best you possibly can do under the circumstances.
Finally, you need to be generous to your fellow actors. During rehearsals, without even trying you will learn even more about your character from them if they are generous too. Ask if you are giving them what they need in any scene work you do with them. "Do you need me to look at you when I say (or sing) this line?" "Am I being too timid when I try to answer you?" "Am I too far away from you when I say this line?"
Don’t be afraid to ask the help of fellow actors, either: "Could you smile at me when you say that line? I think I could react more authentically to you that way." "I’m finding it hard to focus on you during this line when you have your back to me. Do you think you could just cast me a glance over your shoulder when I say (whatever). No? Okay, I’ll work something out something else, then. Thanks anyway."
Tell the director you’d like to try something new today, would he please see if it’s coming across the way you want it? Or see if he thinks it’s working for you and him and the cast and the play. This sort of stuff is known by the word "ensemble."
The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of a tin girl.
Good luck.
I have a company and we have a ticket office and need a dispincer like the movie theaters have where you tell the box person how many and what movie then tickets pop up through the table… Yeah I need one of those.. PLEASE HELP

On the dvd release, the shot is broken up into multiple cuts, whereas in theaters, it starts with The Joker using hand sanitizer, then has a tracking shot of him blowing up the hallways, followed by an exterior tracking shot of The Joker eventually blowing up the hospital. This is a far superior cut, funnier and much more effective. Why would the dvd not have this cut? Am I going crazy here?
