What Kind of Fields are there available that Deal with movie theaters and there equipment.?

Posted on January 30th, 2010 by admin

I would love to have a job in which I work with movie theaters ether on there projectors or sound equipment.. What type of education would I need to work for theaters testing repairing or installing the components that make movies so awesome. And on that note what type of salary could I expect out of that work

Not sure, but I’ll offer you this.

I worked in a General Cinema back in the very early 90’s. The projectionist was union and he did all his own repairs to the machines. I’m not sure if it was because he was the only allowed to or if he was just that talented.

In 1991 he was making $17/hr as a union projectionist. Try the link for some more info.

Examples of theater plays related to hell?

Posted on January 30th, 2010 by admin

can you give me examples of it and it’s scripts. where I can find it? time duration: not more than 1 hour.. thanks.

I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s related to hell, but ‘Spurt of Blood’ (or ‘Jet of Blood’) by Antonin Artaud is a great surrealist depiction of ‘a hell’. Sample: Young Man: I love you and everything is Beautiful
Young Girl: You love me and everything is beautiful. Young man: I love You. (silence) Face Me……
Young Man: We are intense. How beautifully the world is built. [Silence. There is a noise as if an immense wheel is turning and moving the air. A hurricane separates them. At the same time, two stars are seen colliding, and from them falls a series of legs of living flesh, with feet hands, scalps, masks, colonnades, poticos, temples, alembics, falling more and more slowly, as if in a vacuum; then three scorpions, one after the other and finally a frog and a beetle which come to rest with deperate slowness, nauseating slowness]

As you can imagine, this would be difficult if you tried to follow it to the letter, but Artaud always said the text had become a tyrant over theatre so you can afford to be imaginative.

And I wouldn’t say ‘Spurt of Blood’ was Hell. It’s something much, much worse than that….

Jean-Paul Sartre’s ‘No Exit’ (or No Way Out) is an existentialist play set the a waiting room of Hell.

Both have very different ideas and themes, but I would recommend them both as challenging pieces of theatre to put on. I’m not sure of the length of ‘No Exit’, but ‘Spurt of Blood’ can last anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour I guess.

Hope this helps.

How do i get an acting job?

Posted on January 30th, 2010 by admin

I’m 13 and I’ve been in tons of small plays like for school church and the childrens theater but i want to know how to get hired on things like commercials, tv shows or even an extra in a movie

I hope all this information im about to type helps you:

To get an agent, you need to get GREAT headshots, a good resume, and training from the best. These are enough to get you a commercial agent at least. Getting a GOOD theatrical agent (Film/tv) takes longer. Most good theatrical agents won’t see you unless you’re SAG, have a polished resume, and a demo reel. Commercial agents are more lenient about that. What the best Commercial agents want to see on your resume are good commercial classes, improv, and cold reading.

You can get an agent multiple ways. Here are a few common ways:
-Mail in an unsealed manilla envelope with a CONCISE coverletter and headshot with the resume stapled on the back. If you have a demoreel include that too.
-Attend a showcase and impress them. By showcase I do not mean scammy conventions like IMTA, Proscout, or Best New Talent. I mean legit ones like at TVI, Reel pros, etc.
-Get a referral from a friend who is with the agency that you’re interested in

DON’T
-Email them unless they tell you to. IT’S UNPROFESSIONAL!
-Call unless they tell you to. ALSO UNPROFESSIONAL!
-Walk in and ask for a meeting. UNPROFESSIONAL THREE!
-Sign with them if they ask for upfront money, make you take new photos with THEIR photographer, or take THEIR classes. Agent’s ONLY make money when you do. Agents usually make 10% on film/tv and commercials and 20% on commercial print

Look up legit ones here:

What are the names of the theaters that musicals are performed in?

What are the names of the theaters that musicals are performed in?

Umm, theaters?

Musicals do not require any specific type of theatre for performance.

If you are looking for theaters in a specific location that perform musicals you might get more answers if you named that location.

What is your worst experience in a movie theater?

Posted on January 30th, 2010 by admin

I go to the theater to watch a movie, what’s up with the rude people? Tell me about your worst experience.

When I went to see Sweeney Todd, these a$$holes came in, sat by me, texted each other (mind you they were sitting BY each other), decided that the movie sucked because he wasn’t "being Captain Jack Sparrow" and left 10 minutes into that. I wanted to strangle both of them.

The other being the time I went to see Cloverfield. Some dumb@$$ brought their 2 year old and this kid kept pulling my hair and yeah, got something sticky in it. When they turned the lights on and started the movie, the kid went ape $hit and screamed and cried for 5 minutes before the mom grabbed her up and left. What kind of moron does that!!!!

What website can I go to so that I can look for the titles of old movies? Not just the ones in theaters. I just want to see the titles, not put a title in search.

How do I hook up my home theater system to my satellite receiver?

Posted on January 28th, 2010 by admin

I have dish network, and have a new vizio LCD tv with a RCA home theater system hooked up to the tv. The back of the theater system has an optical audio cable input along with the tv but the satellite receiver does not.

Connect composite cables ( red & white ) from satellite receiver to Theater system for audio.

IMAX Screen questions?

Posted on January 28th, 2010 by admin

Ok, well I’ve been hearing this repeatedly from different people..
Are all IMAX screens the same size? People have told me some are smaller than others and I was in disbelief. If it’s IMAX, then it’s IMAX right?
The only IMAX theater I’ve been to within the past 5 years is the one on 42nd street (times square, NYC), the AMC Empire 25 theater.
Do IMAX screen size vary? And what about surround sound?
One last thing, if they do, which would be the biggest in New York?
AMC Loews at Lincoln Square?
Thank you!

No…not all IMAX screens are the same size. The older ones that have been around for several years are the giant screens. The 125′ x 75′ are greatness but now you have some new theaters (I believe AMC is doing this?) trying to squeeze in IMAX theaters into smaller properties. They can’t..so they have a new digital IMAX projector that doesn’t require the super size screen that the 70mm standard IMAX film used. Now the can use the same screen ratio but bring it down to 75′ x 50′ and the digital projector can adjust to whatever screen size they have. It is using IMAX footage but now it can be shown on a much smaller screen.

There is a debate going on right now in California – the public is trying to force the theaters to stop calling it IMAX when it is on a small screen. The theater chain says it is IMAX format so they can call it IMAX and charge $15-$20 ticket. A supporting actor from a TV show started a blog about it since he was the one that demanded his money back after he saw the size of the screen. They wouldn’t give him his money back and he just wanted the $7 premium charge that IMAX movies charge over seeing it in a regular theater.

Yes…the AMC Loews IMAX screen is the largest in your area.

Is there a community theater in the Wayne County Area?

Posted on January 28th, 2010 by admin

I am a part of the Thespain Club in my school, but during the winter, there are no productions. Does anyone know any community theater groups around Wyandotte? or Grosse Ile? Thanks!

wyandotte used to have a group of community players. call their city hall and see what’d what. you might want to try Trenton – i know they used to have one also. (you can tell my age, i told you to call – gracious, look up their city websites :) I’m sure that’s more up your alley!!)

I hope you’re able to find someplace for a fun outlet for your talent!!
