If a theater changes owners and now yahoo thinks the original one closed down, how do I get my listings?

Posted on December 29th, 2009 by admin

The theater is Crown Village 18 on Carpenter Ave, Skokie, IL 60077. They were bought by Kerasotes and just added it to the name. Now Yahoo thinks crown closed down so i can’t get the movie show times. can i let yahoo know it did not close? yahoo did not have kerasotes listed as a movie theater in that area.

You should see if the theater show times are listed under the new name. If they are not listed by the new name, contact the management of the theater and let them know that the yahoo free advertised listing is not available unless they have the new name listed

How can I find local theater productions?

Posted on December 29th, 2009 by admin

My daughter has gotten one of the lead female roles in a musical and is excited for more theater productions. This summer she’s planning to try out for Aladdin as Jasmine. Are there any sites to find local theater productions?

Check your community centre, phone book (yellow pages), newspaper, and through the grape vine (by mouth). If your region/county has a website, be sure to stop by there as well.
All of these places/people should have updates upon your request. If all doesn’t work, dial your city’s administrative office and ask them yourself.

Question about AMC theaters employee benefits?

Posted on December 29th, 2009 by admin

I want to apply for a job as Film Crew (concessions, usher, box office) at AMC Loews Metreon 16 in San Francisco. The thing is, I go to a pretty rigorous high school and I don’t know if I can commit to many hours a week. I know that employees get to watch free movies and get free popcorn and other goodies. Do you have to work a certain amount of hours to get these benefits?

haha. is that why you are looking for a job? for free movies and food? because if it is, you might find the work isn’t worth it

no you don’t have to work a certain amount of hours for those benefits

however, if you have a very difficult schedule to work around, or you tell them you can’t work many hours, they might not hire you/or they might fire you if you aren’t honest up front, because it might not be worth their while to train you

I emailed the local community theater and no response came?

Posted on December 29th, 2009 by admin

I’m 13, and I want to get into acting. So about 3 weeks ago I emailed my community theater asking about an acting class for my age group and resume information and such. I never got a response. What should I do?

unfortunately, some community theatres are not very responsive to emails,,, the thinking is that you need to put as much effort into contacting them as possible. there is some validity to that I suppose as they can gage how serious you are,,, emails are easy to write, require no effort to speak of, a phone call is just a step up from an email, getting down there and showing them you are serious is the best thing to do. Start with a phone call to see when someone will be on hand to talk to talk with you, stress you want to talk face to face and set a time that is agreeable to you, your parent(s) and the theatre staff.

and yes, I spell theatre this way,,, back when I was in college it was the way we distinguished between live theatre and a movie theater.

Which movie theaters in Los Angeles are accessible to the blind?

Posted on December 29th, 2009 by admin

I friend of mine who is blind would like to go to a movie. I need to know which theaters have personal listening devices that describe what is happening in the movie.

What you need is someone to sit down and read you two a book. All of the description, action, and narraration can be heard that way.

You’re going to have a hard time finding a blind-friendly theater anywhere (if they exist)..
I’m sure the workers will be friendly to blind people, but movies and other visual arts aren’t exactly targetted at that audience for obvious reasons.

Tips for Children’s Theater versus regular Play Productions?

Posted on December 29th, 2009 by admin

I’m in a Childrens Theater production and I was wondering if anyone has some tips for me? What are a few things you would do (or change) in a play for children that wouldn’t necessarily be used in a regular or mainstage show (like Chicago or Romeo. & Juliet)?

Years ago I worked on Theatre in Education Shakespeare Productions. Some were for years 6 & 7, some for Years 10 and 11. For the younger children, the story was very much simplified and if I recall, the language made much easier to understand. The plays only lasted an hour, so had to be cut quite a lot. For the older children who were studying the plays for exams, the most important elements of the story were included and there was more of the Shakesperean language and the plays lasted about an hour and a half. In the potted version of King Lear, the plucking out of the eyes scene was still there, but unlike most big productions, no blood was used. There were still squeals of horror though! Any sword fights were with wooden swords (not real ones). In all productions, there were only 4 or 5 actors playing all of the characters, so each had a basic costume with changes of hats and coats for each character.

Are they really going to start showing boxing matches in theaters?

Posted on December 29th, 2009 by admin

or is this just rumors? If they are going to show matches how soon will they start showing them? Are they going in be in regular theaters where they show movies?
Will Mayweather/ Marquez be in theaters?

Mayweather/Marquez will be showing in select theaters, yes. Boxing promoters and businessmen are thinking of expanding further on the idea, yes. But I’m just happy because half an hour ago, I stole my first copy of Ring magazine from a supermarket and got followed by security until I lost them in the maze that is the public library. It was a liberal move on my part, and I don’t condone stealing anything at all, but I couldn’t help it. Not to mention it was priced at $12.
